Summer Workshop in Oulu on 14-15 June 2025

Jeesjeesgood ry, in collaboration with Oulu Urban Culture ry, is organizing a two-day summer workshop open to everyone on 14-15 June 2025 at Postiaukio in the center of Oulu. During the workshop, a summer furniture will be built at Postiaukio. The summer workshop is part of The Nook initiative within the Oulu European Capital of Culture 2026 program.

The workshop is based on Ränttipenkki - the Rant Bench project implemented in winter 2025, during which information and experiences about the usability, comfort, and perceived influence of Oulu’s public urban spaces were collected. In addition, the project called for information and experiences specifically from Kauppurienaukio, Otto Karhin puisto, and Postiaukio. The location of the summer workshop has been selected based on the survey responses.

The purpose of the summer workshop is to build urban street furniture for Postiaukio. The goal is to offer workshop participants the opportunity to concretely influence public urban space in a way that improves the amenity and recreational opportunities of Postiaukio.

Participation in the summer workshop does not require pre-registration or previous experience. You can participate in the workshop for the entire duration or for part of the time. However, participants should reserve at least two hours. There is no age limit for the workshop, however, children under 12 years of age are requested to participate accompanied by a guardian. A small snack will be provided during the workshop.
